But it wasn't always that way. When I was little, we had an immersion heater for hot water, but it was expensive to run, so it only got switched on for Sunday bath night.
And even then, it was only good for one hot bath, so I had to share with my siblings. We had a big cast iron bath and we all piled in together.
If we needed hot water for anything during the week, then we had to boil the kettle on the stove.
How things have changed. We now have constant hot water whenever we need it and we take it totally for granted - until something goes wrong with the boiler.
