I'm feeling quite ill!

My nose is running,

My throat is so sore,

Oh deary me,

It is such a bore!

Could it be Covid?

Or just a bad cold,

They feel quite similar,

So I've been told!

Only one way to know!

I grab for a test.

For tomorrow,

I'm due a house guest!

She's 90 you know,

Long in the tooth,

But I don't want her ill,

And that is the truth!

So up my nose,

The swab it does go,

Move it around,

Now what will it show?

Into the buffer,

The swab is inserted,

Count to 30,

Making sure I'm not squirted!

4 drops are put on the stick,

I watch and I pray,

Please be one line,

What will it say?

Oh dear, there are two,

Now I know why I'm ill!

I have Covid!

Now isn't that brill!

I'll ring up the guest,

Don't want her to come,

I'll crawl into bed,

I'm feeling quite numb!

My nose is dripping,

I'm feeling quite hot!

My head is spinning,

I'm losing the plot!

Give it some time,

I'm sure I'll feel better!

But right at this moment,

I'm needing a sweater!

So, dear reader,

I'm feeling so sad.

Hopefully tomorrow,

I won't be feeling so bad!

So the moral is clear,

Its not always a cold,

Covid's gone nowhere,

It's here and its bold!
